Meet the Presenter

Daniel Birnbaum

London-born Simon Fujiwara lives and works in Berlin. The British-Japanese artist's works deftly navigate culturally potent topics with enigmatic and surprising approaches that broaden conversations and avoid didacticism. Through his multiple formal strategies—from advertising and museum making to theme park design—his works hold a distorted mirror to our contemporary, liberal societies possessed with spectacle, fantasy, and authenticity. Some of Fujiwara's recent solo exhibitions include Who the Bær, Fondazione Prada, Milan (2021); new work, Kunstinstituut Melly, Rotterdam (2021); Revolution, Lafayette Anticipations, Paris, (2018); and Hope House, Kunsthaus Bregenz, Bregenz (2018).
